The short version: no, it’s not a scam. Here’s exactly how the money flows.
It depends on the retailer and the product category. Cashback typically ranges between 1% and 8% of the purchase price, and the exact rate is shown on the deal or review post before you click through.
Cashback first appears as “pending” the moment the retailer confirms your purchase — usually within 24 to 72 hours. It moves to “confirmed” after the retailer’s return window closes (typically 30 to 60 days), which protects us both from refunded orders.
Just be logged into your SmartBuy account when you click an affiliate link. That’s how we match the sale back to you. If you click while logged out, the cashback can’t be assigned to your profile.
If you return your purchase, the retailer reverses the commission — and the corresponding cashback in your account is reversed too. That’s why we wait for the return window before marking cashback as confirmed.
Once your balance crosses the minimum payout threshold, you can request a payout from your Cashback Profile. Payouts go to your linked PayPal account or chosen method.
